We regret to announce the passing of Egbert Thwaites better known as Merrill or Mr. Thwaites, of Factory Road on 7th June, 2023 at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Center at the grand old age of 99 years, six months and seven days. He was a renowned photographer and owner of Thwaites Ice Cream Parlour.
He was the son of the late Charles and Alice Thwaites of Bethesda Village.
He is survived by his loving companion Eunice Rawlins.
Merrill was the father of Edward Armstrong of the USA, Aloma Liburd of the UK, Xiomara, Roland, Catharina, Robert and Egbert Thwaites Jr all of Curacao, Dwayna Derrick, Dr. Dwayne “Baba” Thwaites, Dale, Titi, Monica and Teckla Thwaites all of Antigua and the late Ciprian Gaskin of the USA.
He was the sole surviving sibling of Alfred, Ashton, Walton, Zandie, Moody, Ina, and Studley Thwaites, Clarice Phillip, Albadore Harley and Agatha Southwell.
He was the Grandfather of Rachel, Kibian, Dalron, Alyssa, Ariel, Zhury, Joshua, Jaquan, Gislaine, Nyhaitha, Riana, Rinayska and Georgetty.
He was the great-grandfather of Dylan, Dwayne, Deshawn, Nythan and Karter.
He was the loving uncle of Angela Gordon of the UK, Jackie Apparicio of Red Hill and Alice Harley of Swetes, Drucilla Beazer, Leonie, Sonny, Laurel and Lucinda Southwell, Lilian Samuel and Yvette Francis of English Harbour. He was the special friend of the Matthews of Curacao, Sir Clare Roberts of Picadilly, the Sheppards of Christian Hill, Dr Lake and family of St. Phillips, the Gores of All Saints Road, the Theodores of Clarks Hill, the Nibbs family of Factory Road and Dr. Albert Duncan of the Sir Lester Bird Medical Center. Mr. Whitman Browne of St. Thomas, Mrs. Violet St. Luce of the US and Godfrey Scotland of the US, the Airalls of the US and the late Gerald Price of Golden Grove, Alan Phillips and Eric Henry of Tyrells and the entire community of Bethesda and Christian Hill.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Lavia “Ann” Baron - his caretaker who took very special care of him in the twilight of his life.

He was the son of Dennis Melrose Friday and Henrietta Mack both deceased.

It is with sadness, we announce the death of Leah Azeletha Solomon, affectionately known as Ms George of Sea View Farm. She was born on January 27, 1926 and departed this life on January 19th, 2023.
Preceding Leah in death are her parents James and Elizabeth Payne of Sea View Farm, her husband Lennox Leonard Solomon of Sea View Farm, her siblings: Violet Gore, Elenora, George and Winifred Payne.
She was the mother of Alanso Fitzroy Solomon in St. Croix, Leon, Frank and Clement Solomon in the USA, Agnes Richards in Herberts and Lawrance and Griffith Solomon of Sea View Farm.
She was the grandmother of Anthony, Dale, Fitzroy Jr., Dawn, Johnathan, Jason, Joseph, Lawrance Jr., Andra, Latoya, Lavar, Nichole, Rochelle, Gevon, Quincy, Lawrica, Kadine, Malissa and Jada Solomon; Joy Solomn-Bonin, Christine Steele, Jo-Ann Peters, Rowan Richards; Virginia, Princess and Leroy Sutton. She was the great-grandmother of 22 and the great-great-grandmother of 2.
Leah has one (1) surviving sibling her beloved twin sister Elfreda Tiny Abbott of Sea View Farm.
Leah was the aunt of Esmie Gore, Jasmine Looby, Patricia Joseph, Ilean Brathwaite, Delores Ercent Benjamin, Alpert and Kendell Gore, Lady Patricia Thomas, Janet and James Abbott, George and Rickie Lloyd and all their children. The late Malcolm and Thelma Abbott, Henry, Fernie and Mineta Gore, Roland Lloyd and all their children.
She was the mother-in-law of Christine, Gloria and Jennifer Solomon and Vanessa Cole-Solomon all in the USA.
Leah was the sister-in law of Mary Carr in the USA and the stepmother of Waldine Mason and family of Dewitts Estate.
She was the cousin of Alphus Payne and family of Barnes Hill, Eardley Payne of Piggotts and the rest of the Payne family of Barnes Hill, Pares, Freetown and New Field.
She was the God Mother of Victorine Marajah of Potters, Ditchie Roberts of Sea View Farm, Alwyn Knight in New York, Generise Stephen in St. Croix and Baldwin Codrington of Parham.
Leah was the friend of Ambassador Claire Chastanet, Cardinal A. King former Assistant Commissioner of Police, Annelcia Arah James of Jersey City, Roselyn Barrow of Florida, Ethlyn Frederick of Florida, Samih Ibrahim of Radio Range, Alverine Browne-Hillhouse of New York, Leonie Roberts, Denley Frederick and Donald Mouse Williams all of Sea View Farm, Cyril Williams of Lightfoot and the Sea View Farm Community where she lived most of her life and was revered as an elder.
